IAA · Dixon, California
IAA Sacramento West is a IAA auction yard in Dixon, California, in Sacramento & the North State. Access here: Dealer-only. This page is our dealer's-eye guide to the yard — what it is, who can buy there, and how the California dealer license unlocks it.
What this yard is
IAA (Insurance Auto Auctions) is one of the two national insurance-salvage auction networks. Its branches sell total-loss vehicles consigned by insurance companies, plus rental, fleet, and donated vehicles, through live online auctions. IAA flags the branches that welcome public buyers with a “Public Auction” label on its own locations page — and no California branch carries that flag, so every IAA yard in this state sells to registered business buyers.
The Dixon yard is the IAA presence for Sacramento & the North State — dealers based anywhere in the region register once with the company and buy at this yard in person, online, or both, depending on the sale.
Who can buy
Registered dealers only. This is a wholesale auction — there is no public bidding here. To register as a buyer you present your dealer license (auctions verify dealer credentials, and many wholesale auctions do it through AuctionACCESS, the industry's shared dealer-registration system), and once registered you can bid in person or online. No license, no bidding: the license comes first, and it is the whole reason this directory lives on a dealer school's website.

The license connection
Every path into yards like IAA Sacramento West starts with the California dealer license: the 6-hour pre-license course from an approved provider, the state's 40-question exam at 70%, a $50,000 surety bond in your exact legal name, and the DMV application packet. Both retail and wholesale license holders buy at wholesale and salvage auctions — the wholesale license exists largely for exactly this kind of buying. Our course carries planned launch pricing of $125 and opens when DMV provider approval issues; the founding list is first in.

Dixon questions
No. IAA Sacramento West is a dealer-only wholesale auction — bidding is limited to registered dealers and other licensed business buyers. The way in is the California dealer license.
A California dealer license — retail or wholesale — is the standard credential dealers register with. The path is the 6-hour pre-license course, the 40-question state exam (70% to pass), the $50,000 bond, and the DMV packet; our A-to-Z guide walks the whole chain.
IAA sells online as well as at the yard, so a licensed dealer can bid from anywhere. The yard in Dixon still matters: it is where the vehicles sit, where preview happens, and where winning bidders collect what they bought.
The course opens the moment DMV approval is issued. Founding-list members get first access, the launch prices, and a same-day email as each product becomes available.
